You should have your
brakes checked anytime you hear a noise or an
irregular feel.
During every brake
inspection, rotors are measured for thickness.
Having the proper thickness allows the vehicle
to stop effectively. If a rotor is found to be
below the manufacturer specification for
thickness, replacement is required. If a rotor
is found to be thick enough, depending on the
appearance of the friction surface, some may
require machining to obtain a smooth surface.
Brake lines and
hoses should be replaced if they are blistered,
cut, leaking, cracked or if the fitting threads
are stripped.
Because of the
importance of brakes to the safe operation of
your vehicle, brake fluid should be checked
every time you change your oil. Refer to your
owner’s manual for specific information
regarding brake fluid service intervals.
